Swedish Environmental Innovations
Today, there is a great interest for environmental issues. Even though many people worry about the future there is also a great deal of optimism on how to reduce the environmental burden and at the same time create a positive economic development.
To help reduce the environmental burden and create a positive economic development around Swedish environmental innovations the national competition "Environmental Innovation" has been arranged annually since 1998.
Winning ideas
Below you find a short summary of the three most recent winning innovations in the Swedish competition "Environmental Innovations". Read the full-lenght articles in our magazine "Winning ideas", to be found here on the right.
The winners innovation "OrganoClick" makes it possible to add entirely new and commercially interesting properties to cellulose based material. Paper may become waterproof, timber may be stopped from retting and textile fabrics may become water resistant.
2006 - Improved control results in more biogas
Increased productivity and reduced costs are some of the advantages with a new process for the production of biogas. It may be used in new plants as well as in existing ones without large reconstructions.
2005 - Silent and efficient chill
Anna Borgström and Roderick Barrett have developed a new principle of cooling.
The method is completely silent and up to eight times more efficient than natural convection. The innovation may be used within many fields, for example in the construction of more powerful, energy-saving and completely silent computers.
